The tagline "space to create" couldn't be more apt for Crear-as soon as you leave the A83 and wind along the single-track road past pebbly beaches and basking seals, the Crear magic starts to take hold.
Alice and I have just spent 4 days there, and once again it provided the perfect backdrop for us to work and offered the time and space to focus in a way which can be hard to achieve in our day to day lives back in Glasgow. Discussions about repertoire and lighting are much more inspiring when tied in with a morning walk on the beach and the studio, with its wonderful views across to Jura, is a joy to rehearse in.
We're currently developing NOCTURNAL, a performance inspired by the night, and were lucky to enjoy beautiful weather and clear skies so the night starscapes were really stunning. Full immersion in the project helped us draw our ideas together and, over the 4 days, mould the programme into final performance shape.
We're really excited about the upcoming performances- thanks to EMS for facilitating the residency and to the staff at Crear for their hospitality and wonderful cooking!
