We concluded our set of TRANSPLANTED concerts at St Bride's Church in Newtonmore and for Lochaber Music for all, in Corpach. We have had a fantastic time creating this project and have enjoyed working with composers, artists, biologists and many other important people who have volunteered to help us along the way.
We are delighted that we had such supportive audiences and have some lovely feedback from the concerts.
Lovely concert – are you going to record it? I’d love to hear these pieces again!
Absolutely brilliant I love the combination of music & plants & jazzy shoes that have obviously never been anywhere near a clod of earth. The idea of short pieces of music is so good – like the life of a flower the combination of old & new compositions & old plants into a contemporary world.
Magnificent – Fennessy’s piece is exquisite! Amazingly varied programme, highly professional & very impassioned performances. Thank you so much.
Stunning performance! Fantastic concept. When’s the CD coming out…..?
Wonderful performance. I know all these plants from many years walking in my native Scotland and each piece perfectly evoked them – but I haven’t been to St Kilda. Will go there to see the famous dandelion. Musicians are wonderful – so brilliant and sensitive in their technique & interpretation. Such a memorable concert that I felt privileged to have been at.
Peaceful music. I have been sketching a scene with plants and robins. The music helped me to see what was needed to complete the painting.
FINE MUSIC transcendent, scintillating, amazing perspectives on the beautiful plants. PROUD TO BE SCOTTISH.
Thoroughly enjoyed the performance. The explanations of each piece made it much more interesting and fired the imagination. I am not in the least bit musical but very interested in nature and found that the music reflected the plants so well.
An amazing concept and an excellent concert. Thank you!
The most unusual and inspiring combination of music, both contemporary and traditional. Very poetic.
Yes Scotland is a very special country! And with very high spiritual vibrations! Your “FLOWERING MUSICAL EVENING JUST WONDERFUL” a million thanks!
I was very impressed by the cow grazing peacefully & being disturbed by the buzzing insects so skilfully portrayed on the cello. It’s all very good and a real treat. We appreciate the stories explaining the music. Is there a CD/ DVD of this music? The close up photos of the flowers are brilliant as well. Hirta- island full of birds & music of bird sounds – I could almost see the soay sheep sitting on the cleats chewing the cud.
What an enjoyable evening! Good music – no correct that – brilliant music with very interesting erudite commentary. Thank you. Haste ye back!
Just to say how much I enjoyed your concert on Thursday night. Great to hear and see such expert playing. I thought the combination of contemporary and baroque worked really well particularly as the link -the sketches of plant life- was not forced.I felt that the modern pieces really were made accessible by your introductions. Really sorry there was not a bigger audience-how do you get young folk open minded enough to sample a different sound world? Possibility of a CD or a DVD? Hope so. Every success for the future.
It was fab. I really enjoyed myself and it was so lovely to see how plants have inspired so many fascinating people.
Just a quick note to say thanks so much for the concert at Birnam which I thoroughly enjoyed. The mix of old and new music was inspiring as were the beautiful Laurie Campbell images. The way you explained what the intention of each piece was, and how it tied in to each plant, really added to my enjoyment of the music. It was lovely to meet you both as well.
I saw your performance of Transplanted at the CCA. I'm wondering if it will be recorded and available to buy at some point? There were several compositions which I heard and would like to listen to again.
What a great concert! I really, really enjoyed it just as much (if not more!) the second time. I am glad you had a good audience and all the friends I brought along said how much they had enjoyed it. Leonora, my 80 year old neighbour, said she thought it was the best concert she had ever been to! They were all bowled over by your playing. The boots looked great too. Is there any chance of you making a CD?
The concert was a great success and I think you and Sonia completely won everyone over with the brilliance and passion of your playing. The pieces were all fascinating and vividly beautiful evocations of their subjects - and all very difficult pieces to bring to concert standard in the very limited time that you have had to perfect them, I'd imagine? But you have succeeded brilliantly.
The introductions were perfectly judged as well. I can't praise you both enough for having 'discovered' James Oswald and then conceiving such a clever and worthwhile project and pursuing it through all the hurdles. It is a triumph and I hope could be revived for Ed Fest next summer?
An absolute triumph - great concept, planning, curation and execution. Oh, and the music wasn't bad either... X
